I don't what came over me but I have to save my family from myself, if that makes sense. I'm headed to the boiler room to end this but I have to save them.

Entry 29

 I've awoken after being struck in the head by Wendy. I failed, but the ghost are willing to give me a second chance. They have released me from the pantry I was locked in. I will not fail again. I've already dealt with Mr. Hallorann, my family's only hope.

I must get rid off them. I cannot leave this place. I must finish my work. No distractions.

I've met the hotel staff at the grand masked ball. They seem like a nice enough bunch. They really do understand my issue with my family and may have presented a perfect solution.

The room was... empty. At least that's what I told Wendy. I never saw anything but I felt something. Not enough to say anything about it though.

Danny explained everything. He entered the room Mr. hallorann had warned him not to go in. Room 217 where a lady had died years ago. He said there was a dead lady in the tub. I decided to check it out.

I came to my senses with Wendy curious as to what I was doing. She knew something was wrong with Danny and had come back to me for help. He was unresponsive. When she brought him to me he quickly came to and ran into my arms yelling "It was Her". I knew that this did not mean Wendy but it made me feel pretty good.

I walked to the bar that I knew had no alcohol and was just going to go through the motions, but when I arrived I swear there were bottles and bottles. I knew it was all in my head but I was going to go along with it. I enjoyed forgetting about everything that was going on and pretending for a little.

Entry 22

We found Danny at the top of the stairs with bruises on his neck. Something was very wrong. Who did it to him? Of course wendy freaked out and blamed it on me. It wasn't me. Man, I need a drink.

Entry 21

I had the worst nightmare. It was of my father. It was horrible and I sleep walked down stairs and broke the radio. Luckily Wendy heard me yell and came and found me. But who was watching Danny?

Entry 20

Because of the wasp incident, Wendy has even more reasons to be mad at me. I know that nest was empty. It's hard to focus on my writing because my family gets in the way. I thought I was supposed to be isolated.

Entry 19

The bug bomb worked and I gave Danny the empty nest. He thought it was the coolest thing, but that night he kept the nest in his room and I swear they were all dead, but they weren't. He was stung many times.

Well I can't finish the roof right now because it turns out there are a bunch of wasp up there. I've got some wasp bombs to get rid of them, hopefully that will work.

Today I'm redoing the roof. I'm putting new shingles on a section of the hotel before it snows.

Today while doing some of my chores specifically trimming the hedge animals, I experienced something weird. The animals seemed as if they were moving. It was very scary.

Danny has an imaginary friend called Tony. Tony seems to be the one telling him things. Almost as if he's warning him.

I think it is weird how sometimes Danny knows what is going to happen before it happens. It blows my mind.

On the tour we met the hotel chef, Dick Hallorann. He seemed to like Danny a lot. It was weird how he knew Danny's nickname before we even told him.

Entry 12

On the tour we saw where we were staying and pretty much every other part of the hotel. I was also introduced to the maintenance staff who taught me basically what my job is going to consist of.

Upon arrival, there was still people in the hotel. I spoke with the man giving me a job, Mr. Ullman. He is a small up tight guy, but I am grateful for the opportunity. He decided to give us the tour.

Making the trip back up the mountain road to the Overlook. Don't know why I thought it was a good time to tell Wendy about the previous caretaker. Yeah apparently he murdered his entire family.

Well I was wrong. Wendy has mixed feelings. She is happy for me but skeptical of the isolation we are going to be experiencing. Danny is pretty much excited for everything so I'm not worried.

Heading back to the small apartment to let Wendy and Danny know the good news of daddy's new job. They should be excited.

Yeah that's what the job consist of, Taking care of a hotel. Taking care of it during the winter time while no one is there. My family and I alone in a historic hotel with plenty of time to work on my writing.

The Overlook is an amazing place. First of all it's beautiful and it is huge. I can definitely stay here during the winter months.

Well Im leaving to visit what I've now found out is a hotel called the Overlook. The drive is up a long winding mountain road. It looks beautiful but I imagine during the winter months, when you get snowed in, it could be a nightmare.

Sense being fired at Stovington, I have been contacted a new job through one of my good friends Al Shockley. He says it will be perfect for me to get some isolation for my writing. It sounds like it is some sort of care taking job in the mountains.

It was really hard to make up a story to explain Danny's dislocated shoulder. It was obvious what I had done and Wendy will never forget it, ever. I gave up drinking because of it. I will never hurt Danny again.

Entry 2

I may have a drinking problem. I know I have a drinking problem. I cannot control myself when I'm hungover. That's why I beat the kid at Stovington up. Ever sense that one time where I came home after a long night of drinking and did something I will never forget. Danny was very young and had been messing around in my office. I came in to find him tearing through my papers. I lost it and grabbed just a little too hard.

I am Jack Torrance. I have been in the job market for a while. I used to be a teacher at a high school but things really didn't workout. I was fired. A kid slashed my tires for not giving him enough time to answer on the debate team. I then lost my temper and beat him up.
